Center of Excellence
Center of Excellence
Westfield Select’s Center of Excellence Program
What is the Center of Excellence?
The Center of Excellence is available for players U11 - U14 in the fall, and players U15 and up in the spring. If you are serious about soccer and want to achieve your full potential, then the Center of Excellence is for you! This program, which is led by our Director of Coaching staff, has already helped over 45 players gain scholarships to colleges and universities throughout the United States, and is a great addition to the Westfield Select Soccer program.
The Center of Excellence will help players prepare for college soccer by:
1. Teaching how to approach the college coach with letters and DVDs
2. Showing what to include in DVDs
3. Learning how to identify the right college or university and division level
4. Understanding the steps to take once you have chosen your university.
5. Specialized training sessions to prepare players for the faster/physical tempo of higher level soccer and/or the college game.
What is the cost of the Center of Excellence?
Westfield Select Soccer is constantly trying to make our coaching programs competitively priced. Therefore, the cost of this training is already included within your WSSC fees.
How do I join the Center of Excellence?
The Center of Excellence program will be offered in the fall to U11 to U14. In the spring, it will be offered for all age groups U15 and up. The program will be by invitation only. The selection of players will be determined by the DOC, Technical Directors and Team Coach.
We will be looking for those players who show:
1. Good work ethic.
2. Commitment to attending all sessions.
3. Maintaining good grades at school.
4. High School age players that want to play in college.
What are the obligations of a participant?
All high-school age participants who attend the Center of Excellence and meet the following requirements will be eligible to have letters of recommendation sent to college coaches regarding soccer tryouts:
1. Attend a 2-hour training session per week (includes weight training, plyometrics, speed and agility training, video analysis, college preparation, nutrition and coaching)
2. Maintain school grades acceptable to college eligibility
3. Maintain good conduct and character within the community
4. Attend college showcase events. (Showcase events are not mandatory and are only offered as an additional help to the players. There will be an extra cost if the players wish to attend.).
